This is a box on a shelf in my office.

Inside this box is a rain gauge.

It has been sitting there for several months, because....brace yourself for this logic....

I'm afraid if I put it up, it will quit raining.

Now, I know that's ridiculous, but it really is why I haven't put it up. Our minds can be sneaky little buggers sometimes, feeding us stories that keep us from making the changes that could have very beneficial results. Now, I know that knowing how much rain we get doesn't influence the amount of rain we get, but you know what I mean. (Or do you? That was very confusing. I digress....)

We all have our own version of a "rain gauge in a box".

It's that thing that we have been wanting to do, but we don't because:

"We're not ready, yet."

"What if it is an absolute failure?"

"What if people think I'm an idiot?"

"What if things get worse?"

"If this decision is so great, why isn't everyone else doing it?"

How often in life do we limit ourselves because of those stories we tell ourselves? It feels safer and more comfortable to keep doing things the same way we've always done them.

But comfort never built anything incredible. So so, maybe. But not incredible.

Incredible is going to happen for someone, I think it might as well be you. (Or me, that would be great, too. )

So start taking action, because the only thing standing between you and your biggest season yet, might just be the story you've been telling yourself.
